The Caine Mutiny by Herman Wouk was the number two best-selling novel in 1951, and was awarded the 1952 Pulitzer Prize for fiction. It portrays the neurotic Captain Queeg, who becomes increasingly obsessed with minor infractions, both real and imagined. Queeg's behavior reaches the point where it endangers the crew, and the officers decide to relieve him of his command.
